Heart Health
Eating Organic
Posted on March 26, 2012 Went to Whole Foods today with my wife to go grocery shopping. I confess. I get excited shopping for great healthy food. Food that I know is food for life not food for death. I thought I would share some thoughts about organic food.Just because it is organic doesn't mean it is good for you or healthy. Potato chips are not health food. It does not matter if they are organic. It doesn't matter if they are sold at your favorite trusted store. When y
IT'S MY GENES !?
Posted on March 20, 2012 "When I had my first heart attack, I blamed my dad." A patient recently expressed this to me. The intent was clear. I have heart disease because my dad gave it to me. It was inevitable. It's my genes. One problem. WRONG! As science learned more about genetics and the effect on disease, the first response medicine had was to directly link disease to genes. GIRL SCOUT COOKIES
Posted on February 19, 2012 I received a box of Girl Scout cookies today (supporting a friend's child). Read the ingredients (a mandatory requirement for health). Orange juice from Brazil contains toxins. Specifically, a fungicide to kill mold. It is banned for use in the US because of its toxicity.

Eat slowly throughout the day. Feeling full after a meal (satiety) is a complex process that involves the types of food we eat, the quantity of food we eat and hormones stimulated by the food we eat. If we eat too fast,
IT IS BETTER TO GIVE
Posted on December 20, 2011True Health is more than making the right choices for your physical heart, your physical body. It requires “feeding” your spiritual heart, your soul. By design, your heart needs to give. It is more than buying your friend a card, though that is a nice thing to do. As you learn more about choosing to be healthy, you realize the right choice often requires a degree of sacrifice. It might be passing on the sweet dessert (or at least taking a smaller portion) that satisfies yo
